Not going to be home tonight, Damian. Everything's fine. We're on Victoria right now.
If anything comes up, please call James McGinty or the others. Or ask me to do it.
Take care of yourself. I'll be home soon.

Date: 2016-06-02 05:18 am (UTC)The job did not go well. She's pretty sure part of it was that they're not really secret agents or agents of any type, but - still, it dissolved down to them messily fleeing in a half flooded car park. She took a bad hit to the leg while helping Shaun up and his glasses got pretty messed up. Still, there is the apartment she got through Mervin.
She's not sure why she suggested it, but Shaun - didn't look like he wanted to lie low on whatever cheap cargo ship their Assembly of Blackmailers could manage. She's also pretty sure that they are poking at something Abstergo related, from the amount of paperwork he pulled out of the drawers. That's - worrying.

Date: 2016-06-02 05:33 am (UTC)There's a little bit of a crack in his glasses, and the arm is practically falling off, but he's managed to wind some duct tape around it for the moment, and if he squints, he can see around the crack too. It's not a great state of affairs but it could be worse.

Date: 2016-06-02 05:43 am (UTC)"A" might work too. She's sketched out a rough map of the route to the apartment. "The apartment's got some basic furniture but it will be stuffy and there's no supplies. But it's quiet. I got it in case if Paris IV heated up again." Since let's be honest, protests are a constant when the weather got warm and tempers got short.

Date: 2016-06-02 06:13 am (UTC)"Waverly works pretty well." Shaun nods. "Keeps me away from notice of my contacts here too, until I'm ready to talk to them. They don't need to be privy to the fact we're dealing with the Assembly. Well, yet. I imagine at some point, that's going to have to be wrung out of me. Green's a spymaster and good at it. Still, I'd like a few days of anonymity I think. Especially given what information we were able to track down. I don't want it getting to the colonies." He's pretty serious about that fact too. The less people who know what's going on, the better.
"And I can keep going for now. We're going to have to play hide the car, and I'm good at that game, so.." he shrugs a bit. "And the apartment sounds like a godsend right now."

Date: 2016-06-02 06:20 am (UTC)She's honestly a little tired, but - until they get out of the stop and go traffic she probably can't drift off yet. Which knowing her luck, she'll wake up when they park at some store to grab coffee for the morning without knowing when she fell asleep.
Damian's telling her about talking to Feuilly. Apparently it went well. Lightning storm in Paris IV, unfortunately, is not. He sounds shaky in his writing.

Date: 2016-06-02 06:52 am (UTC)"I've been careful." Shaun tells her quite serious about that fact."The police are possible. It depends on who here can be trusted, which is part of what I intend to find out. Green will know of that and of anyone else who might help. He's been running things through London for a long time now. I'd say he's on my level, less a blackmailed flunkie. And well, said missing kid...we might never find him if a cop connected to the wrong people finds out we're making inquiries. For now, there's nothing more to do but get some rest though. Thankfully, I think. What do we need to do first in terms of other things? Popping round the shops, I know can't wait..."
It's too bad too because he IS tired. But he'll be miserable later, otherwise. "And seeing to your foot. I've got some codeine on me if you need it."
no subject
Date: 2016-06-02 06:57 am (UTC)She shifts her foot carefully, and yeah, it's hurting, but the dizziness and risk with her nanites for her heart isn't worth taking someone's painkillers. "Why do you have codeine on you? Old injury?"
no subject
Date: 2016-06-02 07:42 am (UTC)As far as the medicine goes, it's sort of why. It's not Shaun's old injury exactly, but the assassins in his cell tend to pass out their extras when they've recovered, just in case.
"Actually, yeah. Seemed like we were risking injuries so it was worth bringing through. Anything else I can do?"

Date: 2016-06-02 08:55 am (UTC)"As far as milk goes, we're probably in luck. They ship in things from farmers, right?"
no subject
Date: 2016-06-02 07:18 am (UTC)Well, messaging "GuyFawkes23" was mostly a long shot. She was hoping to get somewhere that might even know what William Syndrome was. Or could handle a heart complaint.
So there she was, sitting on the couch with the windows open and her leg wrapped in the ugliest of the towel options and ice packs. "I think this is a secure message. I'm not sure you remember me, but a long time ago, I talked about a dead man near the static curtain on Lorena Station. Could I call in that favor?" she types.
no subject
Date: 2016-06-02 07:38 am (UTC)"I can do that, possibly. I'm definitely not there now, but anything else can be managed. What is it you need?"
Absorbed in his messages, he wandered out into the other room himself, going for the coffee and absently waving a greeting.
no subject
Date: 2016-06-02 07:53 am (UTC)She's typing up a reply to Damian (he messaged at about five in the morning Paris time. Worrying.) Then she starts on talking to Guy. "I'm on Victoria. I think you said you knew the area. What's my options for low amounts of Abstergo rides or a free clinic that might handle a weak heart well? I've got no clue what medicine is like here. Have a friend in house, but he's got his own issues." She pauses debating before adding, typing rapidly, "Genetic thing. With the heart. So painkillers are iffy. I know what's safe, but getting a doctor to listen can be trouble."
no subject
Date: 2016-06-02 08:48 am (UTC)"I'll keep that in mind." For now, he's considering his messages instead. "Let's see here..."
'You won't believe this, but so am I. Wound up on assignment with someone helping me out. She's a little injured, but it shouldn't be a problem for me to get out. Genetic heart thing, huh?" That's a coincidence, he thinks, isn't Yvette dealing with some kind of genetic thing too?
"I can see what I can do about getting in touch with someone here. Offhand, don't let anyone talk you into Starrick's soothing syrup. They'll push it for everything but it's actually killed people."
Absently, he's turning to Yvette. "Do you happen to know any doctors willing to help with meds for people with genetic conditions in the area?" Because...nah...right?

Date: 2016-06-02 08:52 am (UTC)So wait - this guy is the same Abstergo is an ass guy she talked to before? The one with contacts all over and worries that the dead guy was - she never quite knew what he was scared of. Just that the guy died because Abstergo's hold got weak on something. Or something like that.
She flashes a half smile. "I was hoping you could help. And you really do need to take care of yourself. The glasses, for one. And did you take that much face trauma?"
no subject
Date: 2016-06-03 01:04 am (UTC)"I'll see what I can do, in that case. I know a member of the brotherhood here knows a skilled nurse, anyway."
no subject
Date: 2016-06-03 01:14 am (UTC)She takes a deep breath. "It's something that's common on Lorena Station. William Syndrome. Heart murmur and general -" She gestures. Her heart had always been the worst part of it. She had a curve in her fingers which got some surgery and some awkward braces when she was younger, some slight oddness in the shape of her face, and then the early grey in her hair. Some theories were that the odd fields and the fog in Lorena caused some minor chromosomal damage. "Either way. I got a nanite treatment to try to cure it. So sedatives or downers or most painkillers shut things down enough to not be worth it."
She hesitates. "It's not you? It's just a pain trying to explain that the rest of me is fine. Just trust me in what I can and can't do?"
no subject
Date: 2016-06-03 02:02 am (UTC)"Not just me at all." Shaun answers, quite seriously. "We help people in a variety of ways, and want to keep it safe from tyrannical rule and control. Sometimes it works better than others." As far as the glasses go, though..
"They are REALY annoying, yes. I need to finds somewhere with tools too. And Nanintes, hmm... I can check round for somethng safer now."
no subject
Date: 2016-06-03 02:09 am (UTC)Or at least she does until she can arrange a flight with Mervin safely. Or wait for another cargo ship.
She pats a spot. "Want me to heat up some breakfast for you? Or is it just coffee that confounds you?" Since that'd been - a bit surreal sitting there, far too late, after shopping to a nonstop string of "not that" and Shaun absently saying that she'd have to make the coffee in the morning.
no subject
Date: 2016-06-03 02:53 am (UTC)So they did. They should have all along.
"I'm only partially searching for that kid because I owe it to his dad." Shaun begins. "And because it's wrong in general. But the people who have him..they'd turn him into an experiment and use what they gained to help themselves in bringing about some..really scary shite. And I'm fine with the rest." He's popping in some toast now, waiting.
no subject
Date: 2016-06-03 03:01 am (UTC)She fishes around for some Russian jam and adds a splash of milk to her coffee. She's moving pretty slow and gingerly on her knee, and that bruise on the side of her leg is pretty obvious now that she doesn't have her leggings on.
"So - since we're looking into Abstergo, are we tracing the path of that kid getting out and need to screw it up? Or the other way around?"
no subject
Date: 2016-06-03 03:37 am (UTC)He's grabbing some of the coffee, and adding some jam to his toast, frowning a bit as he watches her. "For NOW, I'd say you need to sit down. That looks pretty painful. I'll see about the woman my people know, who I can call. She seems to have specialized in war hospital type work so mobile injuries might be familiar too. And well, we want to be sure the kid isn't in their hands. If we can make him disappear, that'd be the best. I'm pretty sure they'll be watching his mum too close to bring him home, but ideally, I can make them disappear. Worse comes to it, his grandfather's alive but...that'd be the last possible last resort."
no subject
Date: 2016-06-03 03:43 am (UTC)"I take it that the grandfather's not optimal. And there's no shame in being a historian. I'm just a rabble rouser and the group accountant." Yvette's smiling over at him. "I've got a ship, you know. We could tell them to screw the cargo ships and actually fly out on something with real beds."
